Another top day in the Suffolk countryside :) With no wind today and good weather after rain all day yesterday we got the trusty OS Map out and I decided to head for the Butt and Oyster for lunch :) So Mag and I parked up just past the Orwell Bridge on the Shotley road and headed along the Stour and Orwell path into Freston Wood :) We then crossed the B1456 heading across fields of wheat, sweetcorn and sugar beet pas the entrance to Woolverstone Marina, the lovely church and the impressive private school in Woolverstone Park and onto the River Orwell where we continued to the pub at Pin Mill for a tasty fish and chip lunch at about 2 :)
After the great meal we sat in the sun and watched life go by as the tide approached high water, with all the fantastic old barges, house boats and non stop boats of all sizes enjoying the good weather :) We then continued along the river to Woolverstone Marina where we stoped for a ice cream watching the mullet swimming with their backs out of the water !!! before heading inland through the hot farmland !!! We turned and walked past the interesting Freston Tower past the small Stoke Sailing Club where we went for a paddle to cool down before making it back to our van to make a cup of tea and sit by the river with veiws of the Orwell Bridge and old barges on the water :) We then parked by Freston church and picked a tub of wild cherries before setting off for home tired out after nearly 8 hours away from home !!!
I had a trip to the cliff top at Felixstowe and theree were several kiters out enjoying the evening and the weekend is looking good for abit of windsurfing !!!
